09:30 –9:45 A Presentation by Rasmus Thord, music supervisor,
Rasmus Thord is a Swedish music supervisor. Thord began his career at the production company Memfis film as an assistant producer, but subsequently became increasingly interested in the music department after taking on the Music Supervisor duty on most of Memfis Film’s productions starting with Lukas Moodysson's Lilya 4-ever. Since 2011 Thord is a full time free-lance music supervisor with focus on feature film, but has also done a few documentaries and shorts. Over the years he has worked with directors such as Lukas Moodysson, Mikael Marcimain, Lisa Langseth, Lance Edmands, Ester Martin Bergsmark, Josef Fares, Babak Najafi and Jesper Ganslandt to name a few.

09:45 – 10:00 A Presentation by Rebecca Edwards, Head of Film & Tv Licensing, Universal Music Publishing Scandinavia AB,
Rebecca has worked with music publishing since 1998 and has for the past 2 years been running the licensing department at UMP Sweden. At the license department they handle the publishing license for music in Film, TV, Commercials, Company Film, Adaptations, Samples, Print as well as taking care of various copyright infringements. They negotiation the fee for a specific use, issue agreements and answer any other questions related to the music license - from handling request to wrapping it up in the legal paperwork. Universal Music Publishing is the world’s leading music publisher, with offices in 47 countries including Scandinavia, UK, US, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, South Africa and throughout Asia.

10:00 – 10:15 A Presentation by Michael Pärt, Producer and Editor
Having been active in the music industry as a Producer and Editor for almost 15 years, Michael has been part of a wide variety of projects, ranging from working closely with composers and pop stars, liaising with directors to managing and producing recording sessions. Michael Pärt has gained renowned recognition in the music and film communities by working closely with Oscar and Grammy award winning artists. He has worked with Icelandic megastar Björk, film directors Peter Jackson, Francis Ford Coppola, composers Richard Harvey, Howard Shore and film director and Prince of Thailand Chatrichalerm Yukol among others. Michael has contributed to award-winning projects such as the BAFTA winning LazyTown and the Grammy nominated albums Volta by Björk and Neon Bible by Arcade Fire.

10:15 – 11:15 The panel session will discuss the value of music in films and advertising.
It will also explain the practical side of things – the film industry structure, the types of deals and agreements, expectations to composers and songwriters, common and best practices with film production companies.

Composers and songwriters will have the opportunity to present their work to 10-20 experts and production companies within 10-minute speed-meetings according to a previously agreed schedule.

19:00 Showcase of Estonian Film Music “Undiscovered Soundscapes”

The Black Nights Film Festival has joined forces with international music showcase festival Tallinn Music Week and Estonian Film Cluster for the third time to present talented Estonian composers and songwriters to international film industry.

“Undiscovered Soundscapes” invites you to explore the fresh new sound of Estonia that comes from a background influenced by internationally acclaimed Estonian composers like Arvo Pärt and Erkki Sven Tüür. You will hear music from the leading contemporary composers for present-day Estonian film. The concert is followed by a meet-and-greet in the form of a cozy reception. Concert is with invitations only.
