Mikko Aromaa

Mikko Aromaa founded the Night Visions International Film Festival in Helsinki in 1997, and has worked as the Director of the festival ever since. At the time it was set up, he was working as the Editor in Chief of Gorehound magazine, the biggest genre publication in Finland. Before Night Visions, he consulted several film festivals in Finland and set up the midnight movie section of Espoo Cine International Film Festival, for which he acted as a board member until 2001. In addition a strong background in journalism and festivals, Aromaa has extensive experience in the field of acquisitions of international and domestic feature films. He has also acted as a member of the board of Filmiaura ry, the organization of industry professionals giving out the Finnish Oscars, the Jussi awards (2008-2012), a member of the Advisory Board of the Finnish Board of Film Classification (2011) and a member of the Advisory Board of the Finnish Centre for Media Education & Audiovisual Media (2012-2013).
