Estonian Film Commission is a public entity that aims at marketing Estonia as an undiscovered European film location to foreign producers, focusing on low to mid-budget film and TV productions from Europe, Russia and Asia. The Estonian Film Commission was established in November, 2012. It is financed by Enterprise Estonia, the country’s enterprise and export support agency, Estonian Ministry of Culture, Estonian Film Founcation and the City of Tallinn. The initial budget for 3 years will amount to 860,609 EUR. The Estonian Film Commission was officially rolled out during the 2012 Cannes Internaional Film Market under the brand FilmEstonia.euThe principal purpose of the Film Commission is to promote Estonia as a destination for film shoots and other audiovisual content production. Also in the pipeline are efforts to set up regional and country-wide financial incentives for incoming will provide location scouting services, offer producers and directors free scouting trips to the country, channel contacs and facilitate what few official procedures there are in place. As a key aim, is working to kick off local incentive production fund for foreign productions from 2013. The Film Commission’s stated ambition is to turn Estonia into the Baltic Sea region’s leading audiovisual content production service provider by 2020.
